Advocating for Equal Rights and Legal Protection Women and girls often face discrimination, marginalization, and violence, preventing them from fully exercising their rights. This program focuses on: Educating women and girls on national and international laws protecting their rights. Training female lawyers, judges, and prosecutors to improve legal protections for women. Advocating for policy changes to ensure gender equality. Empowering women as leaders and decision-makers in their communities. “When women know their rights, they can fight against oppression and demand justice.”

Ending Gender-Based Violence Program

Program Activities,  Programs

Providing Support & Protection for Survivors Violence against women and girls remains one of the biggest human rights violations in Cameroon. This program works to: Offer psycho-social support and trauma counseling to survivors. Provide free legal aid for women facing domestic abuse, sexual violence, and exploitation. Raise awareness about gender-based violence (GBV) through campaigns and community engagement. Train local leaders, police, and health workers on how to handle GBV cases with sensitivity and care. “No woman should suffer in silence—together, we can end gender-based violence.”

Combating Trafficking of Women & Children

Programs

Rescue, Rehabilitation, and Prevention Human trafficking is a growing crisis affecting vulnerable women and children, subjecting them to forced labor, sexual exploitation, and abuse. CAWRJ is committed to fighting trafficking through prevention, protection, and prosecution. Prevention: Educating communities, schools, and families on the risks and signs of trafficking. Protection: Rescuing and providing safe shelter, legal aid, and psycho-social support to survivors. Prosecution: Working with law enforcement to investigate and prosecute traffickers. Rehabilitation: Offering survivors counseling, vocational training, and reintegration programs. Partnerships: Collaborating with government agencies, NGOs, and international bodies to combat trafficking. “Every woman and child deserves freedom. Together, we can stop human trafficking.”

Building a Just Peace Program

Programs

Women as Leaders in Conflict Resolution Women play a critical role in peacebuilding and conflict resolution, yet they are often excluded from decision-making. Our peace program ensures that: Women and girls are trained in conflict resolution, peace mediation, and negotiation skills. Women participate in community peace dialogues and local decision-making structures. Communities are educated on the importance of gender equality in sustainable peace efforts. Disputes and family conflicts are resolved through women-led mediation initiatives. “Women’s participation in peace processes is the key to a stable and just society.”

Ensuring Women’s Voices are Heard For too long, women’s voices have been ignored in policy discussions. This program works to: Push for women’s inclusion in local and national governance. Organize advocacy campaigns on gender-sensitive policies. Train women’s rights activists to speak up and influence policy changes. Partner with traditional and political leaders to promote gender equality at all levels. “When women lead, communities flourish.”

Legal Services & Women’s Rights Education Program

Programs

Providing Access to Justice for Marginalized Women Women, especially in conflict-affected areas, often lack access to justice. Our legal program ensures that: Women and girls receive free legal representation and advice. Community members are trained as paralegals to support legal awareness. Women are educated on their rights to property, inheritance, and family law. Specialized units are established within police and judicial institutions to handle sexual violence cases. “Justice should not be a privilege—every woman deserves fair treatment under the law.”
